Just remember that you are on the sea and should take note of the weather conditions and forecast in advance of setting off and wear/carry suitable kit!
Also, we would recommend that you, wear not only an appropriate buoyancy aid (with whistle) and wetsuit or drysuit but you tell someone on land where you are going and how long you will be (please remember to tell them when you get back). Have a suitable means of communication, such as a VHF radio, but at least a mobile phone in a waterproof case like our SwimCell cases, that means that you can use your phone without taking it out of its waterproof case! Also never set out on the sea without a paddle leash and a bottle of water and some snacks. A dry bag such as our Overboard dry bags with flares and waterproof torch in.
